Researchers at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory have discovered that T cells, a type of white blood cell, can be reprogrammed to target and eliminate senescent cells, which contribute to age-related diseases. Using CAR (chimeric antigen receptor) T cells, they cleared senescent cells in mice, improving health and longevity without side effects.

CAR T cells offer prolonged benefits even with a single treatment, potentially protecting against age-related conditions like obesity and diabetes. Beyond cancer treatment, this study highlights their potential for anti-aging interventions.

The research aims to extend human lifespan, promising progress in slowing down aging and improving the quality of life in old age, holding potential for healthier aging and an extended human experience.
